Mountain railroad Rheineck–Walzenhausen
on the way with Appenzeller Railroads
On a comfortable train ride, the Appenzeller Railways take you directly to countless excursion destinations and mountain railroads in the Appenzellerland.
The Rheineck-Walzenhausen mountain railroad is a narrow-gauge railroad line in eastern Switzerland. The 1.96 kilometer long adhesion and rack railroad connects Rheineck in the canton of St. Gallen with Walzenhausen in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden twice an hour. In the vernacular it is called "Walzehuusebähnli".
The train is part of the Rorschach-Heiden AR-Walzenhausen-Rheineck-Rorschach adventure tour. The round trip includes a trip with two mountain railroads (Rorschach-Heiden-Bergbahn next to the Rheineck-Walzenhausen mountain railroad), a trip with the Swiss Postbus and a Lake Constance boat (Rheineck SG-Rorschach).
