paddle steamer Hohentwiel
highlight on the Lake of Constance
The paddle steamer Hohentwiel used to have quite the unique status on the Lake of Constance. As the ship of the state of Würtembergs very own railroad, the Hohentwiel was primarily used by the royalty of Würtemberg - therefore making her the official successor of the royal ship "Queen Charlotte". But not just royalty was fascinated with the paddle steamer. Also Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, founder of the Zeppelin Luftschiffbau company, was a big admirer. In 1913, he even celebrated his 75th birthday on the Hohentwiel with quite the prestigious guest list.
Many things have changed since these times, however the Hohentwiel still remains an absolute highlight in the Lake of Constance region.
