How the holes get into the cheese

In the Appenzeller show dairy, you can experience at close quarters how the famous cheese is made - from a look into the 6,000-liter vat to the 13,500 maturing wheels. In the visitors' gallery, you can watch the production process live and learn more about the well-kept secret of its flavor. At the end, you can of course taste different varieties - and take them home from the store.

Under the "Gsiberger" brand, the Bentele family produces fine brandies, liqueurs and the popular Edelpraline - complemented by regional specialties from the Bregenzerwald. In the region's first apiary and show distillery, the family processes around 60,000 kg of fruit per year and looks after around 120 bee colonies. All products are available in the farm store and online. Guided tours of the apiary and distillery are available by appointment - including tastings and in English or French on request.

Experience the craft of cheese making

Discover the world of Bregenzerwald mountain cheese: from the secret of the holes to the ripening time of a real mountain cheese. Watch the cheesemakers at work on the tour and then enjoy regional cheeses and Alpine milk in the Weißtannenstube. A film provides exciting insights into traditional cheese production. This makes it clear why cheese is made with such pride here in the Bregenzerwald.

Outstanding wines from Lake Constance

The winegrowing village of Hagnau is idyllically situated on sunny vineyards directly on Lake Constance. Since 1881, 60 winegrowing families have been cultivating around 145 hectares in the best south-facing location - perfect terrain for Müller-Thurgau, Burgundy, Kerner and Pinot Noir. During a guided tour of the cellar, you will learn more about traditional vineyard work and taste the characterful Hagnau wines.

History you can touch

In the family-friendly museum, you can immerse yourself in a time when hop harvesting was still hard manual work and also a social event. During the harvest in late summer, you can experience the picking and drying process live, outside the season via video. The museum combines modern hop growing with a loving exhibition - from the field to the beer.
